The Digital Protection and Sharing of Rare documents
The project aims to establish special funds for the rare documents collected by various colleges, departments or disciplines at Peking University, in order to protect them from disintegration and utilize them in digital forms. With the establishment of the fund, each branch library may apply to the fund for specialized support, indicating the content, quantities, and rarity levels of the documents to be protected and digitalized. After approval of the application , the approved amount will be transferred to the Digitalization and Data Center of Peking University, which utilizes the money to digitalize the identified documents, and rehabilitate and protect the documents according to their present conditions. The digitalized content can be shared within the campus network.
